Although independent estimates show that close to 60,000 people work in private security companies, Serbia remains the only country in the Western Balkans which has not legally regulated their work. BCSP is the first organization in Serbia which has conducted empirical research on this issue by interviewing managers working in private security companies and their clients. Based on our research findings, we have proposed concrete solutions for regulating private security sector, while not interfering with freedom of business for companies.
Before the special Law on Private Security was adopted in November 2013, the private security industry had been operating in a legal vacuum for 20 years. The analysis of the implementation of this Law was conducted by the BCSP Executive Director Predrag Petrovic.
