Belgrade Centre for Security Policy is one of the few organizations worldwide that are involved in research on practical ways of communicating complex ideas.

As part of the preparation of the chapter that will present a case study of how the BCBP contributed to democratic civilian control of the armed forces (with a focus on the military), Sonja Stojanovic, BCSP Director, together with the Goran Buldioski, Director of the Think Tank Fund, wrote a blog about the preliminary results of the research done in July.

The article describes the use of training as an effective means of communication. Besides being used as capacity building and networking tool, various trainings can be exercised for the validation of the results of research and also contribute to a long-term change in values of the trainees.

The context in which the BCSP managed to achieve this, examples of how to design specific training, as well as the lessons learned in this process are all summarized in this blog.

This study, along with the similar examples from Argentina, Ecuador, Egypt and South Africa will be published in a book whose editor is independent researcher Enrique Mandizabal.
