        • The EU Police Directive (increasingly the Law Enforcement Directive - LED) was adopted in the spring of 2016 and is applicable from 25 May 2018, as is the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The Police Directive is specific in the circumstances in which it is applied and in the solutions it contains.

This policy brief defines the concepts of personal data, data processing and data collection and provides answers to questions that are general prerequisites and special conditions that must be met for the EU Police Directive to be implemented. It also states what remains beyond the implementation of the EU Police Directive.

This policy brief is a part of the project “Defending the Right of Access to Information,” which is supported by the Open Society Foundation in Serbia.
