        • Goal of this policy vision is to offer arguments in favor of proactive integration of Serbia in the EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) until 2020.

Vision starts with a brief overview of ZSBP and the concept of battle groups of the EU. Then we offer our view why is it in the interest of Serbia to begin as soon as possible preparations for participation in EU battle groups. Special attention was given to explaining how the creation of the Western Balkans Battle Group by year 2020 is not only in the interest of Serbia and its neighbors, but also in the interest of the EU.

Finally, the model exhibited 4 phases of Serbia's inclusion in the EU battle groups. The model includes (1) phase of preparation and observation (2010-2012), (2) phase of adjustment (2013-2015), (3) phase of participation, planning and preparation (2016-2018) and (4) development phase of initial operational abilities and the formation of the Western Balkans Battle Group (2018-2020).

The vision is a product of the project "School for European Security" (www.eursec.org) which was supported by the EU through the European Integration Fund.
